Australian Muslim Artist(AMA) is pleased to partner with THE BEACH, Dubai’s most exciting beachfront of the moment.

Formed around a pedestrian esplanade that meanders between four distinct plazas, THE BEACH includes a dynamic mix of top brands and attractions offering everything from casual eating, signature fine dining, luxury retail and a range of attractions in the exciting entertainment area. THE BEACH will present architecture that is both playful and contemporary, drawing influences from the local culture whilst responding to the distinctive beachfront location. The buildings will cascade towards the beachfront creating shade and relief along the extent of the promenade. Add to this effect of sun and the cool sea breeze, the network of tree lined alleys giving access to the sea, and a carefully selected tenant mix - 'THE BEACH' is well posed to emerge as Dubai's must-visit destination.

The competition is open to both Emirati and international participants from all visual arts categories.

Residents from the UAE can compete in the international category.

You must be 18+ or authorized by your legal guardian if the age of majority in your country is 21.

There is no maximum age limit.

Submitted artwork can be produced by one or duo artists maximum.

For duo artists, one representing artist shall be nominated.

All work submitted must be solely produced by the artists registered for this award.

The official award language is English.

If you have difficulty writing in English, we invite you to submit both in your own language and its English translated version (Google translation is accepted).

You are responsible for providing correct personal information to be reached on.

You are responsible to check your emails and notifications on your “Artist Login” area, newsletter and social media posts to follow up on your submission progress and general Award’s news. We recommend to check your junk/spam box and mark any email that may reach the junk/spam box as ‘Not spam”.

By entering the Award, you are deemed to have read and accepted all aspects of the rules described on this page and the general Terms & Conditions for using the online platform.

All terms are made available before the winner is nominated. If a participant does not agree with these terms, we recommend not to enter the award.

The International Emerging Artist Award will be selecting 8 visual artists to have their winning artwork printed for Dubai’s largest outdoor exhibition at THE BEACH.

8 building facades have been selected to be fitted with the winning visuals. AMA will take in charge the printing and installation of the artwork as well as the promotion of the event.

The exhibition will run during Dubai’s Art Season from 14-30 March, 2016.

The theme for this award will evolve around the concept of “immersion” . Artists are invited to submit a digital version of their work (photography, painting, graphic design, illustration, drawing) that reflects the following definition of “immerse”:

The action of dip or submerge in a liquid, a subject or an object being immersed in water.

The theme can also be interpreted as being immersed into a mood or a state of mind such as tranquility and enjoyment. it can also be a conceptual or an original representation of natural elements such as the sun, sand, water or sky.

You must enter a DIGITAL format of your work.

Image submitted can be: digitally created, photography or a picture of an existing artwork.

For the online submission image dimensions must be max 1MB, 72 DPI, format JPG.

If your original image is too big in size we accept screenshots.

If your submission wins, you will be requested to send a high resolution of your work: 300 DPI, 25 MB for large format print (actual print dimensions are shown on the visual specifications section).

Make sure you submit artwork that can fit at least one or several locations shown on the “visual specifications” without CROPPING unless you agree to.

Pixelated, blurry, faded, or low resolution images will not be selected.

NO watermark should be added on the image.

NO borders or frame should be visible.

NO glass or light reflection should appear on the picture.

The image submitted should be the image of the artwork in its final composition.

Unfinished work will not be accepted.

The artwork submitted should have not been submitted to other art competitions or showcased previously.

You can choose 1 or several locations to submit for. You can mention the wall you are submitting for in the “artwork description” on your “artist login” area.

You need to register first by entering your email and creating a password.

You will receive a confirmation email to login with your details.

Please check your Junk/Spam folder and mark your email as “Not Spam”.

Go to “Artist Login” area and complete the application form.

You will then be able to choose a package of 3, 6 or 12 images (a submission fee will apply accordingly).

Your submission will go through a first round assessment.

1st round assessment is done within 7 days of your submission by the Award’s management.

You will be notified by email if your application has been accepted for the 2nd and final assessment round by the jury panel.

The decisions of the Award’s management and Jury panel are irrevocable and unquestionable. The awarded artists have the right to renounce the prizes, but without asking the International Emerging Artist Award or its affiliated partner any kind of compensation. In that case the prize will be re-assigned according to the ranking made by the jury.

AMA management will judge your ability to understand and follow the brief and all requirements stated in the rules.

AMA will shortlist the artists that have duly filled the application form in their “Artist Login” area which includes:

• Artist’s profile.
• Concept field.
• Artwork description fields.

Pertinence: all participants shall be reminded AMA is a contemporary art award based in the United Arab Emirates which respects cultural, sociological and religious sensitivity of its region. Any submission judged otherwise will be rejected.

Following the 1st round assessment, shortlisted applications will be forwarded to the jury panel who will score each application individually based on the following criteria

• CREATIVITY: Jury will look at the originality of the work and technique that is used to execute it, its creativity and quality of execution (scale 0-5).


• EFFECTIVENESS: Your ability to understand the theme, brief and specific requirements and applying them effectively.


• CONCEPT: Your ability to submit an original visual interpretation of the theme “Immerse”.(scale 0-5)


• GENERAL IMPRESSION: This is the overall, first and last impression your submission makes on the juror (scale 0-5).

The decision of AMA management and the Awarding Jury are irrevocable and unquestionable. The awarded artists have the right to renounce the prizes, but without asking the International Emerging Artist Award or its affiliated partner any kind of compensation. In that case the prize will be re-assigned according to the ranking made by the jury.

Your copyright and moral rights:

International Emerging Artist Award respects your rights and does not claim copyright for works you submit to the contest. You will retain full copyright in each entry.

In addition, your moral rights are respected. Whenever your work is published by the International Emerging Artist Award and or its affiliated platforms and partners you will be credited. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition. International Emerging Artist Award and its affiliated partners will seek to correct any errors or oversights when notified.

Use of works:

By entering the award, you agree that any work you submit may be used by International Emerging Artist Award and its affiliated partners solely for purposes in connection with the Award or future awards, and no other purpose. These uses include:

Judging the competition

Displaying entries on the International Emerging Artist Award website and social media outlets and those of its affiliated partners.

Displaying the entries at the fair, gallery or any other location where your work might be exhibited.

Displaying the entries in a book, magazine or exhibition catalogue, or similar

Using the entries on posters or postcards to promote the Award.

Cropping and re-sizing the work as necessary to fit pre-defined formats to promote the Award and any related exhibitions.

Sub-licensing the entries to the press for reproduction in connection with the Award.

Inclusion within any materials promoting the Award or any exhibition organized by the International Emerging Artist Award.

You hereby grant International Emerging Artist Award and affiliated partners a non-exclusive, royalty-free and unlimited license in each entry throughout the world in all media for the uses described above.

A participant is responsible to provide correct personal details in order to be contacted by the organization by email or telephone

A participant can enter with his/her artist name but has to provide full details (as shown on the passport) shall he/she be the winner.

Name and email addresses are used to communicate news related to the entrant’s application or to share general news of AMA and its affiliated partner.

Credit card details are protected information by our secured payment gateway Innovate Payments and are not accessed by nor the organizers or its affiliated partners.

All entry submissions are final and entry fees are non-refundable. Shall the same submission be charged twice for any reasons, AMA will refund the second payment.

International Emerging Artist Award relies on its sponsors and affiliated partners when promoting the prize offered for each edition. Should any of AMA’s affiliated partners or sponsors fail for any reasons to fulfill their commitment in providing the prize promoted, International Emerging Artist Award shall not be held responsible whatsoever for this failure. AMA shall make all effort to provide a similar prize with no time limit imposed. Should for any reasons the event be partly or wholly cancelled outside of the organizer’s control, AMA shall offer the winners the amount paid for the registration as a voucher to be used for future competitions held by AMA. This voucher shall be requested by the Entrant in written at contact@emergingartistaward.com within the time limit defined by AMA in case of such event.
