Australian Muslim Artist(AMA) and World Art Dubai have partnered to showcase the winners of its 4th award edition during the 4-day contemporary art fair which will take place from 06 – 09 April, 2016.

From Amman to Amsterdam, New York to New Delhi and Sao Paulo to Seoul, World Art Dubai is the region’s premier platform for worldwide galleries to showcase accessible, inspirational and affordable art to Middle Eastern art lovers.

As part of Dubai Art Season, World Art Dubai was created to bring together regional and global artists and galleries from across Dubai’s international community. A unique fusion of art, education and entertainment, World Art Dubai reflects the city’s growing prominence as a leading cultural and artistic hub. From young and emerging artists to established names, World Art Dubai will host a diverse collection of modern, contemporary and fine art work for every budget.

This year’s World Art Dubai returns for an inspirational second edition with more than 150 local, regional and international galleries and artists offering a wide variety of spectacular artworks across 4,000m² of exciting indoor exhibition space.


  • Winning artists will see their work showcased at the 2016 World Art Dubai, a contemporary art fair specially designed to promote emerging artists and provide exposure in the United Arab Emirates’ art scene.

  • A winner from each of the following categories will be selected:.

    • Painting & Mix Media
    • Illustration & Drawing
    • Sculpture
    • Indoor Installation: includes traditional and digital installation
    • Photography
    • Video Art & New Media: artwork transferable and showable on screens only (eg: video production, digital animation, interactive art, internet art)
    • Wearable Art : includes fiber art, accessories (eg: jewelry) or clothing made with non-fiber materials


  • The competition is open to both Emirati and international participants from all visual arts categories.

  • Residents from the UAE can compete in the international category.

  • You must be 18+ or authorized by your legal guardian if the age of majority in your country is 21.

  • There is no maximum age limit.

  • Submitted artwork can be produced by one or duo artists maximum.

  • For duo artists, one representing artist shall be nominated.

  • All work submitted must be solely produced by the artists registered for this award.

  • The official award language is English.

  • If you have difficulty writing in English, we invite you to submit both in your own language and its English translated version (Google translation is accepted).

  • You will not be penalized for grammar or spelling mistakes. however the concept should be explained in an understandable way.

  • You are responsible for providing correct personal information to be reached on.

  • You are responsible to check your emails and notifications on your “Artist Login” area, newsletter and social media posts to follow up on your submission progress and general Award’s news. We recommend to check your junk/spam box and mark any email that may reach the junk/spam box as ‘Not spam”.

  • By entering the Award, you are deemed to have read and accepted all aspects of the rules described on this page and the general Terms & Conditions for using the online platform.

  • All terms are made available before the winner is nominated. If a participant does not agree with these terms, we recommend not to enter the award.


  • You need to register first by entering your email and creating a password.

  • You will receive a confirmation email to login with your details.

  • Please check your Junk/Spam folder and mark your email as “Not Spam”.

  • Go to “Artist Login” area and complete the application form.

  • You will then be able to choose a package of 3, 6 or 12 images (a submission fee will apply accordingly).

  • Your submission will go through a first round assessment.

  • 1st round assessment is done within 7 days of your submission by the Award’s management.

  • You will be notified by email if your application has been accepted for the 2nd and final assessment round by the jury panel.

  • The decisions of the Award’s management and Jury panel are irrevocable and unquestionable. The awarded artists have the right to renounce the prizes, but without asking the International Emerging Artist Award or its affiliated partner any kind of compensation. In that case the prize will be re-assigned according to the ranking made by the jury.


    1st round selection:

  • AMA management will judge your ability to understand and follow the brief and all requirements stated in the rules.

  • AMA will shortlist the artists that have duly filled the application form in their “Artist Login” area which includes:

    • Artist’s profile.
    • Concept field.
    • Artwork description fields.

  • Pertinence: all participants shall be reminded AMA is a contemporary art award based in the United Arab Emirates which respects cultural, sociological and religious sensitivity of its region. Any submission judged otherwise will be rejected.

  • Overall impression: Quality of work, concept exposed and contemporaneity.

  • Following the 1st round assessment, shortlisted applications will be forwarded to the jury panel who will score each application individually based on the following criteria

    • TECHNIQUE & ORIGINALITY: Jury will look at the originality of the work and technique that is used to execute it, creativity and quality of execution. (scale 0-5).

    • CONTEMPORARY: Jury will judge if the work is exposing one current issue or the way a global or universal topic is treated with an original and contemporary view. (scale 0-5).

    • CONCEPT: The concept should express a personal point of view, critical and sensitive, and should reflect the universe and imagination of the artist. (scale 0-5).

    • COHERENCE: Between the work and the concept, jury members will check if the series proposed is consistent with the concept exposed. (scale 0-5).

    Note on the judging process: jurors may request AMA management to conduct further research on a participating artist by visiting any existing website, social media accounts or checking published articles or references mentioned on the resume. Should AMA or the jury panel require further information, AMA management shall contact the concerned artist by phone or email.

  • Your submission can include different art medium (ex: painting, photography, sculpture..etc) . However, we recommend you to enter the medium that represents your art practice best.

  • Your image file title should be presented as follows: ex: JohnHarris_Painting_120x70cm or JohnHarris_Sculpture_85x70x100cm.

  • You must enter a DIGITAL format of your work.

  • Images must be in JPEG format, 72 dpi, RGB mode, 1MB max.

  • If your original image is too big in size we accept SCREENSHOTS.

  • Each image uploaded should represent one different artwork.

  • You are responsible for submitting a good quality image of your work.

  • Pixelated, blurry, faded, or low resolution images will not be selected

  • NO watermark should be added on the image

  • NO borders or frame should be visible.

  • NO glass or light reflection should appear on the picture.

  • The image submitted should be the image of the artwork in its final composition

  • Unfinished work will not be accepted.


    For the “Show At The Fair” Award, participants can select a package of 3,6 or 12 images

  • Package 1: Three images for 35 USD (11.5 USD per image).
  • Package 2: Six images for 45 USD (7.5 USD per image).
  • Package 3: Twelve images for 65 USD (5.5 USD per image).

  • International Emerging Artist Award uses Innovate Payments as a secured and easy method of payment. Entrants can pay by using their credit card (Visa, Mastercard, CB or debit card..etc). AMA will never store cards holder's details. After the payment is made, entrants can start uploading their work.

  • Selected winners shall be responsible for the safe packing and shipment of their artwork.

  • Important note: all packages entering the United Arab Emirates are open by Customs.

  • AMA has no control over how packages are handled by Customs.

  • We advise you to clearly mark your package as FRAGILE

  • AMA will make all effort to handle your artwork in all professional ways but AMA shall not be held responsible for any artwork damage.

  • Artists shall be responsible to arrange for all related artwork or transportation insurance (not mandatory).

  • AMA will treat each artwork shipment case by case and may provide adequate support at its own discretion.


  • All artwork showcased can be sold during any of AMA exhibition shows.

  • AMA takes 30% commission fee to handle a sale.

  • If an artwork remains unsold, the artist shall be responsible for its return.

  • AMA shall not be held responsible for damages caused during the return of an artwork.

  • AMA offers to keep any artwork on consignment for future exhibitions.

  • AMA shall not be held responsible for artwork damages during its consignment.


    Your copyright and moral rights:

    International Emerging Artist Award respects your rights and does not claim copyright for works you submit to the contest. You will retain full copyright in each entry.

    In addition, your moral rights are respected. Whenever your work is published by the International Emerging Artist Award and or its affiliated platforms and partners you will be credited. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition. International Emerging Artist Award and its affiliated partners will seek to correct any errors or oversights when notified.

    Use of works:

    By entering the award, you agree that any work you submit may be used by International Emerging Artist Award and its affiliated partners solely for purposes in connection with the Award or future awards, and no other purpose. These uses include:

  • Judging the competition

  • Displaying entries on the International Emerging Artist Award website and social media outlets and those of its affiliated partners.

  • Displaying the entries at the fair, gallery or any other location where your work might be exhibited.

  • Displaying the entries in a book, magazine or exhibition catalogue, or similar

  • Using the entries on posters or postcards to promote the Award.

  • Cropping and re-sizing the work as necessary to fit pre-defined formats to promote the Award and any related exhibitions.

  • Sub-licensing the entries to the press for reproduction in connection with the Award.

  • Inclusion within any materials promoting the Award or any exhibition organized by the International Emerging Artist Award.

  • You hereby grant International Emerging Artist Award and affiliated partners a non-exclusive, royalty-free and unlimited license in each entry throughout the world in all media for the uses described above.


  • A participant is responsible to provide correct personal details in order to be contacted by the organization by email or telephone

  • A participant can enter with his/her artist name but has to provide full details (as shown on the passport) shall he/she be the winner.

  • Name and email addresses are used to communicate news related to the entrant’s application or to share general news of AMA and its affiliated partner.

  • Credit card details are protected information by our secured payment gateway Innovate Payments and are not accessed by nor the organizers or its affiliated partners.


    All entry submissions are final and entry fees are non-refundable. Shall the same submission be charged twice for any reasons, AMA will refund the second payment.


    International Emerging Artist Award relies on its sponsors and affiliated partners when promoting the prize offered for each edition. Should any of AMA’s affiliated partners or sponsors fail for any reasons to fulfill their commitment in providing the prize promoted, International Emerging Artist Award shall not be held responsible whatsoever for this failure. AMA shall make all effort to provide a similar prize with no time limit imposed. Should for any reasons the event be partly or wholly cancelled outside of the organizer’s control, AMA shall offer the winners the amount paid for the registration as a voucher to be used for future competitions held by AMA. This voucher shall be requested by the Entrant in written at within the time limit defined by AMA in case of such event.
